The book of Tehillim (Psalms) is the original prayer book. It is the quintessential book of poetry – and it is also a keyhole through which we peek into the life of King David, the shepherd, the warrior, and the king. It is a book which brings comfort and at the same time has the capacity to elevate the soul. It is a book that reaches beyond poetry into the power of prayer and connection.

Who wrote these words with such passion and pathos? What is the book about and does it truly “help” us?

This is the book that we reach for when we feel troubled, alone, powerless, and never more so than in these dark times. When we do so, there are particular chapters that we read.
